CheapShark Game Deals helps you to find cheap PC video games fast.

CheapShark is a web service that scours the biggest names in PC video game sales, such as Steam. It collects this data so that users like you know exactly what games cost at that moment. Whether you are searching for a particular title, seeking a fun way to pass the time or just looking for great deals, CheapShark is a powerful tool that can help you do that faster.

CheapShark Game Deals is a Chrome browser extension that provides access to that web service essentially as a website. CheapShark also has a website that you can access directly, and at the time of this review, CheapShark Game Deals did not improve on that experience in a significant way; however, it can still be useful for Chromebooks or for the person who accesses this site on a frequent basis.

Home and Browse are the two core ways in which to peruse available games. Home provides a way to browse titles on a store-by-store basis. View the cheapest titles on Amazon, GameStop, Green Man Gaming, Steam and so forth at a glance. Browse, on the other hand, combines all games from all stores—at least by default. A series of checkboxes allow you to filter out games from any storefronts that you cannot or choose not to purchase from.

Browse has a search mechanism built in as well as a range of filters. There is also a standalone search feature that is great when you know exactly which title you seek. The Browse-based search is less streamlined but a lot more powerful. You can dictate not only the title you want but also which storefront and an acceptable price range and so on.

The Browse-based search goes beyond that, which is helpful when you are searching for nothing in particular. Want to see all games on sale for less than $10.00 that scored 80+ on Metacritic? You can do that, and for us, therein lies the real power of CheapShark Game Deals.

CheapShark Game Deals is very PC-oriented. Traditionally, Xbox and PlayStation games have not been sold the same way, but that is changing. Consider that Green Man Gaming now often sells PS4 games and Microsoft is selling games that are Play Anywhere, which means they run on PC too. We would like to see better support on that front. Additionally, the paradigm has shifted. Steam is no longer the only DRM in town, so we would like to see better support for Epic Games Store especially in advance of what we feel is an inevitable shakeup of the market by Amazon.

As is, CheapShark Game Deals is a great way to hunt for deals in the moment. There are alternative services that handle notifications and the like better. But if you want to search for deals for right now, no sites/extensions we have tested do it better than this one.
